Over 15k Raised!
Seems like someone let the cat out of the bag; at last year’s Surrey Hills jaunt we had around 40 walkers, but at this year’s South London Chapter Walk we had in the region of 70!

At 20km, this year’s route was shorter than last year’s, but for those who took a wrong turn here or there that easily turned into a distance of 2 to 3 km more….
… and for those who took the long shortcut or the short shortcut you probably still did near enough 20k, so all’s well that ends well 🙂

The route started with a descent into Mickleham village, taking in its quaint church before rapidly ascending again to a point where the only way down was via a lengthy, windy and steep step.

Following the official TCF Pani stop, the route summited Box Hill where a much-earned lunch was enjoyed over-looking the Mole Valley.

Meanwhile, whilst the masses lunched, the leading pack were way out ahead, ambitiously chasing down the challenge time of 6hrs to complete the route.

Following another lengthy, windy and steep step down from Box Hill, the team reached the famous Stepping Stones on the River Mole… tis not for the faint of heart!

… but for those who crossed without being devoured by the River Gorgon, the famous Karak Chai and Cake Stop lay ahead…

… and with one final burst of energy, the leading pack completed the course with 20 minutes still left to go!
Well done to the winners and all who joined for the day, young and old, who raised awareness for The Citizens Foundation UK
