Surrey Hills Walk 2026

Over 11K Raised!

For the third year in a row, a troupe of keen walkers responded to the call of the South London Chapter’s 20km Surrey Walk challenge.

A troupe of keen walkers… at 8am

Previously in 2024 we scaled the Surrey Twin Peaks and in 2025 we rambled up Box Hill. This year’s route spanned a 20km loop between Guildford and the picturesque village of Shere.

Having forgotten to take a group photo at the start of the walk at Newlands Corner, the only remedy we had at our disposal was to rush ahead of the group and snap this pic as everyone squeezed their way up a narrow hill track.

A quick loop into Guildford treated us to wonderful views of the cathedral and castle, alongside a welcome ‘break’ for many — and, for some, an essential coffee.

Leading us onwards through the ‘enchanting’ Chantry Wood, the route led us to the peak of St. Martha-on-the-Hill where we rested for lunch.

Descending quickly again into Albury via a picturesque pond (that is not the Silent pool in case you are still wondering), the route headed onwards into the quaint village of Shere where delectable ice cream and sorbets awaited the thirsty walkers.

Still, if coffee and ice cream were not sufficient, the TCF Chai and Samosa Stop (this time by the Silent Pool) was just an hour ahead at Mandira’s Kitchen, an Indian eatery nestled in the midst of the English countryside.

Refuelled and refreshed, the return to Newlands Corner lay just one final uphill away, whereupon our triumphant walkers were greeted by more tea and a certificate to commemorate their great achievement.

A wonderful day out, in which our petitions for good weather were answered and the company was even better.

Hope you had a great time and InshaAllah we’ll do it all again next year!
